Munters breaks ground on US chiller facility

USA: Swedish climate solutions business Munters has broken ground on an expansion of its facility in Daleville, Virginia, to enable the production of chillers.

Intended to meet the growing demand for data centre cooling, the expansion adds 18,580m² of production space to the adjacent lot of the current factory and includes a new chiller test laboratory. In total, the new production facility will cover 52,000 m².

The chillers are currently imported to the US from Munters’ Italian subsidiary Geoclima. Production in the new US plant will focus on smaller units like chilled water air handling units, fan coil arrays and cooling distribution units (CDUs). Larger units, such as SyCool chillers and air handling units, will continue to be sourced from Italy.

The groundbreaking ceremony on July 9 included participation from Munters Group leadership, local government officials, project team members and community partners.

The new facility is set to be completed in Q2 2026.
