USA: New York State has dedicated $3m for the purchase of air conditioners by residents suffering from serious health issues that are aggravated by extreme heat.
The State’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, which oversees the Home Energy Assistance Program, has set aside $3m in federal funding to provide an air conditioning unit or fan, to eligible households. Last year, 4,000 households are said to have received cooling assistance.
