One dead, two injured in air conditioning “explosion”

UAE: An engineer was killed and two injured in a reported air conditioning “explosion” in a residential block in Sharjah. 

The explosion happened yesterday (May 27) while the workers were carrying out maintenance work on a compressor in one of six central air conditioning units on the roof of the 22-storey Al Yasmine Residential Tower on Al Wahda Street.

A Sharjah police report says the deceased man, “a maintenance technician of Asian citizenship”, and the injured were transferred by ambulance to Al-Qasimi hospital.

The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
