Poland uncovers more HFCs in car LPG tanks

POLAND: Polish customs officials have stopped more refrigerant being smuggled across the border from Ukraine in vehicle LPG tanks.
Officers from the customs department in Hrebenne, a village in southeastern Poland on the border with Ukraine, discovered modified gas tanks during an inspection of two passenger cars.
These were found to contain over 220kg of R134a and R404A refrigerant.
The two vehicles were seized and criminal proceedings have been initiated against the drivers.
Poland has reported an increasing number of such smuggling attempts in the last 12 months. Most involve smuggling attempts from Ukraine.
