R290 heat pump recalled due to safety concerns
13th July 2026
FRANCE: An R290 monobloc heat pump is the subject of a recall in France due to fire or explosion concerns in the event of a refrigerant leak.
The recall relates to models from the Qlima WDH series, an all-in-one monobloc requiring no outdoor unit, and with all components housed in the indoor unit.
Qlima is a brand of the PVG Group headquartered in Oss, Netherlands.
Details of the recall are listed on the French government website Rappel Conso. It advises that the device, if installed in a low position, less than 1.8m high, could create a flammable atmosphere in the event of an R290 refrigerant leak, potentially leading to a risk of fire or explosion.
The models subject to the recall – WDH 224 PTC, WDH 229 PTC, WDH 229, WDH 235 PTC, WDH 429 PTC and WDH 435 PTC – contain around 290g of R290, a charge size that would require an installation height of at least 1.8m to comply with European safety regulations.
The recall appears to have been initiated by PVG and requires the inspection of the installation by PVG and corrective action to ensure compliance, if necessary.
The units were sold across France to consumers via a number of retail outlets including Bricocash, Bricomarche, Bricorama, Galec, BBJ, Leroy Merlin, Mr Bricolage, Weldom, Entreprot Du Bricolage, Brico Depot, Castorama, Cofaq and Les Briconautes Independants.
It is not known how many units are subject to the recall but sales cover the last five years. It is also unclear whether the product has been sold in other European countries, nor whether similar recalls have been issued in those countries.
There has so far not been a response from PVG to questions from the Cooling Post.
