Sharp to launch DC-powered ac

JAPAN: Sharp is planning to launch a DC-powered air conditioner which would operate more efficiently from a storage battery.
According to the Nikkei Business Press, a prototype of the system comprising the air conditioner, storage battery and PV array was exhibited at PVJapan 2015 at the end of last month and is scheduled for launch this year.
Because DC electricity is not converted to alternating-current electricity via a power conditioner, power loss can be reduced by about 5%, Sharp claims.
