Sustainable data centre cooling is webinar topic

BELGIUM: Promising technologies and business models for the sustainable cooling of data centres will be showcased in a free webinar on February 22.

The event, jointly organised by EPEE and the Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance (SDIA), willl also discuss how the uptake of sustainable technologies could be encouraged by EU policies.

With the constantly growing number and size of data centres, cooling them requires an increasing amount of energy and must therefore be done in a sustainable way to minimise its impact on the data centre’s overall energy draw and on the environment. In addition, state of the art sustainable cooling facilities can recover and upgrade the considerable heat generated by a data centre for redistribution, via a district heating network for instance, to connected homes, industries, offices, and other types of end-uses.

All interested stakeholders are invited to join the debate as to what the EU Fit for 55 package can do support these developments, in the revision of the Energy Efficiency Directive and beyond.

The keynote speaker is Jutta Paulus, the German pharmacist and MEP for Alliance 90/The Greens. Participants will also hear the European Commission’s view from Claudia Canevari (DG ENER).

The event will take place on 22 February 2022 from 10.30 to 12.00 CET. Register here.
