Toshiba Carrier confirms India JV

The existing Carrier factory in Haryana, India

JAPAN: Toshiba Carrier has confirmed news that it is to commence production of VRF air conditioning units in India.

The Cooling Post yesterday revealed Japanese reports that the joint venture company will install production lines at an existing Carrier factory, with production to begin next spring.

A statement, today, from Toshiba Carrier says that it has established Toshiba Carrier Air-Conditioning India Private Ltd, as a joint venture with United Technologies Corporation, in Gurgaon, Haryana, India.

The new joint venture – 51% Toshiba Carrier Corporation and 49% United Technologies South Asia Pacific PTE – was established on August 14, and is headquartered in the premises of Toshiba India Private Ltd.

Toshiba Carrier confirms that the new joint venture was created to support strong demand for VRF systems, in a country with an annual GDP growth at 7.4%.

It also confirms that it will use the existing Carrier manufacturing operations in India and its nationwide distribution network and existing sales force.
