TÜV Nord expands test capabilities

GERMANY: Test house TÜV Nord has expanded its facilities to more than double its capacity for testing refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.

New test benches at the company’s Essen location give it the flexibility to carry out performance tests, for example, on central air handling units, heat pumps or devices for the comfort, process and IT climate control systems. This could include special test setups for new, innovative refrigeration systems.

In cooperation with other TÜV Nord Group technical departments, audits can also be carried out in the areas of noise emissions, filter technology, electrical safety and certain product features such as the hygienic suitability of ventilation and air conditioning equipment.

“For example, with control cabinet cooling units, we can not only carry out the climate performance test, but also examine the cooling units directly for their electrical safety or their sound emissions,” explained deputy technical director Timo Reisner.

The testing centre is accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 and has been recognised as an independent testing laboratory for the European certification company Eurovent Certita for more than 20 years.
