Turnkey solution for poultry supplier
UK: Carrier Rental Systems recently came to the rescue of one of the UK’s leading suppliers of eggs and poultry, following a breakdown of its cooling plant.
The refrigeration system at the company’s site suffered a critical failure, and plans for a new system had to be put on hold while specialised heat exchange equipment for the cooling plant was commissioned and budgets allocated.
To enable the plant to continue operating, and at the same time support its planned expansion in capacity, the company sought an immediate temporary solution.
After visiting the site and assessing the requirements, the Carrier Rental Systems’ team provided a complete turnkey package, including four Carrier 30RH100 AquaSnap air-cooled chillers rated at 100kW each, four low-temperature air handling units, approximately 80m of ductwork, and related piping and electrical connections.
The solution included full design, supply, installation and commissioning. The chillers were positioned outside the building, with chilled water pipework connected to the internally located air handling units. Refrigerated air was supplied to the plant’s processing and packing areas by insulated ductwork installed in the roof space.
Commissioned and fully functional within 24 hours, the temporary cooling solution enabled the company to maintain and increase production throughout one of its busiest periods, while meeting strict industry product temperature requirements.
