Ability launches chilled water cassettes

UK: Ability by Dimplex has extended its product portfolio with the addition of a range of chilled water cassette units.
The new EVO-CASS and HSK chilled water cassette ranges are said to meet demand for a quiet and effective heating and cooling solution for projects where space is limited, ductwork cannot be installed or where smaller heating or cooling loads are required.
They can be combined with Ability fan coil units, including multi-room fan coils and heat-pump-ready fan coils.
“We know there are certain projects where chilled water cassettes offer the best solution, others where it is more beneficial to use FCUs and some where a combination of the two is most appropriate,” commented Ability’s head of national sales, Troy Chambers.
“By extending our HVAC portfolio to include the EVO-CASS and HSK chilled water cassette units, our technical team is uniquely placed to advise specifiers on the most appropriate technology or combination of technologies for each space and the building as a whole.”
Ability chilled water cassettes offer a compact ceiling design, and feature efficient brushless fan motors. The units are available in two- or four-pipe configurations.
“The EVO-CASS and HSK units are suitable for traditional high-temperature heat sources and are also compatible with low-temperature systems such as heat pumps, helping to future-proof systems for renewable upgrades,” said Troy Chambers.
Hydronic cassettes comprise a galvanised steel casing with internal polystyrene thermal insulation and an external anti-condensate lining. They feature 0-10V EC fans, which use a maximum of 10W under normal operating conditions, as well as a built-in condensate pump.
The EVO-CASS units are available in three sizes: 600mm x 600mm, 800mm x 800mm and 900mm x 900mm. The smaller units are available with either a plastic or metal fascia. The plastic fascia has adjustable deflection blades to push heated air down towards the occupant or angled along the ceiling for longer throws.
The HSK comes in two sizes, 600mm x 600mm and 800mm x 800mm, and is available with a metal diffuser only.
According to Ability, the most notable distinction between the two ranges is their aesthetic design, providing architects and MEP consultants with greater flexibility to meet different project requirements.
Said to have been developed with the evolving demands of modern architecture and sustainability in mind, the EVO-CASS is designed for concealed installation and can be specified with either a standard plastic diffuser for a clean, understated appearance or a metal diffuser to complement more contemporary interiors.
In contrast, the EVO-HSK features a steel shroud casing, making it ideally suited to exposed installations where the appearance of building services forms an integral part of the overall design aesthetic.
Smart controls enable the cassettes to be integrated with a building management system and there is an option to include ePIV valves for easier control and commissioning.
To support specification, Ability offers witness testing at its dedicated facility in Poole, Dorset. This includes acoustic, volumetric performance and thermal performance testing using high-quality calibrated equipment. A detailed report with results, photographs, layout drawings and calibration certificates is provided.
Valves for the EVO-CASS and HSK cassettes are available separately, ready to be site-fitted and insulated by the contractor. When installed, filters are removable and washable, and the units are said to feature accessible assemblies and simple electrical connections for straightforward servicing.
