AquaEdge chiller for data centres
7th April 2026
FRANCE: Carrier has developed the AquaEdge 19MV4 variable-speed centrifugal chiller for mission-critical environments, using lower-GWP refrigerants R1234ze and R515B.
Part of its Carrier QuantumLeap solutions for data centres, the new machine is designed to deliver the capacity, resilience, and efficiency required to safeguard high-density operations under extreme thermal stress.
With its variable-speed centrifugal platform, the 19MV4 supports direct-to-chip liquid cooling and rear-door heat exchangers.
Delivering 2.1MW to 3.3MW of cooling capacity, the chiller runs with chilled-water temperatures up to 35°C and condensing temperatures up to 55°C.
To accommodate AI compute fluctuations, Carrier’s EquiDrive two-stage centrifugal compressor modulates from 10% to 100% load, preventing short-cycling during inference tasks or idle periods.
COPs are said to be up to 6.75 and, with the unit achieving an IPLV of 11.4 under AHRI test conditions.
To help prevent overheating risks in high-density chips in the event of a cooling failure, the AquaEdge 19MV4 restarts within 150 seconds of a power outage.
Power quality is also protected. The chiller uses active harmonic filters to keep total harmonic distortion of current below 5%, shielding IT infrastructure and UPS from electrical noise and reducing maintenance risks.
