Cyclone ULT store claims powerful cooling performance

USA: Trane Technologies has developed an ultra-low freeze/store forced-air convection cold chamber.
The Cyclone cold chamber joins the Farrar range of cold storage solutions produced under Trane Technologies’ Life Science Solutions business unit.
Using forced air convection to help ensure powerful cooling performance, the Cyclone is said to achieve chest freezer-like temperature recovery with the convenience of an upright.
Serving the needs of research, drug discovery, pharmaceutical manufacturing and logistics, the Cyclone is designed for flexible temperature storage and cooling capacity (from -20°C to -80°C).
The Cyclone claims precise temperature control of +/-2°C and the ability to cool materials over three times faster than traditional cold wall ULT freezers. It also claims up to 50% faster recovery from door openings compared to standard ULTs.
The high stage/low stage system employs the hydrocarbon refrigerants R290 and R170.
“Its innovative design offers large capacity storage within a compact footprint, making it an ideal choice from drug discovery and clinical trials through production,” maintained Trane Technologies Life Sciences president Matt Barga.
The Cyclone features quick-change top-mounted refrigeration system and, with the heat rejection on top of the unit, footprint clearance requirements are eliminated.
