Friga-Bohn unveils Nova cubic cooler

FRANCE: Friga-Bohn is unveiling the Nova cubic evaporator for commercial and semi-industrial refrigeration applications, as well as low-temperature preservation.

A replacement for the existing 3C-A series, Nova cubic evaporators feature the same dimensional envelope but use a larger diameter fan for improved ventilation and cooling performance. Available in sizes up to 30kW power output, the units are said to be compatible with all refrigerants.

Features include optimised defrosting, high performance fans and simplified installation and maintenance.

Three fin spacings are available –  4, 6 and 8mm – and units feature full aluminium end plates for higher corrosion resistance.

A complete redesign of the defrosting system is said to bring significant gains and a reduction in defrost power consumption of up to 30%.

The redesign sees the introduction of angled resistors for more effective defrosting of the expansion valve, distributor and manifold, while new W/m² distribution in the heat exchanger delivers even defrosting and limits vaporisation effects. Greater distance between the blades and shroud provides another advantage by reducing the risk of icing in negative applications.

The optimised defrosting is said to reduce electricity consumption by 28% reduction on average.

Fan diameters have been increased from 300 to 315 mm, bringing better aeraulic and thermal performance. Wider spacing between the shroud and impeller also reduces the risk of freezing.

Simplified access to the electrical box connections via the terminal box on the front of the motorised fan eases maintenance operations, while coloured markings identifying the heaters’ electrical connections simplifies installation.
