Stulz side cooler for higher heat loads

GERMANY: The CyberRack SideCooler from Stulz is designed to meet the cooling demands of data centres in space-constrained or remote locations.
Said to offer major benefits for edge and micro data centres, this closed loop water cooled unit is promoted as ideal for environments with higher heat loads, where efficient air conditioning is essential for optimal operation and uptime.
Designed to be flexible, it can be seamlessly integrated between server racks or within a micro data centre, delivering efficient cooling directly at the heat source.
Its compact footprint maximises space efficiency, while front and rear service access points are said to simplify maintenance work. Additionally, the use of hot-swappable fans enables quick, safe replacement without interrupting operations.
“The growth of high performance computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning at the edge has significantly increased server power density, resulting in substantial heat generation,” commented Stulz SpA product manager Matteo Foroni. “Space within these environments is often restricted, so we’ve designed the CyberRack SideCooler to provide maximum cooling capacity with minimal footprint. It is also compatible with racks from all manufacturers and can facilitate various airflow concepts.”
Mitigating the need for hot and cold aisle separation, the CyberRack SideCooler delivers cooling capacity in a closed loop server rack. It uses three horizontal zones to deliver optimal air supply, preventing the formation of hotspots without creating energy intensive oversupply.
Stulz insists that by targeting cooling directly in the rack itself, high water temperatures are possible alongside the extended use of free cooling.
To minimise environmental impact, the CyberRack SideCooler employs intelligent control and electronically commutated (EC) fan and motor technology.
