SWEP BPHE for liquid cooling applications

SWEDEN: SWEP has introduced the B327 and B224 brazed plate heat exchangers to expand its offering of liquid cooling solutions for data centres.

Both units are said to be optimised for single-phase applications, such as coolant distribution units and district heating and cooling systems. They share important design features, including large ports for high flow rates, low pressure drop, and high thermal efficiency.

The B224 is a development of SWEP’s B250AS but with enlarged ports to accommodate up to +125% higher flows. It is described as being suitable for many applications and designed to enhance cooling solutions for data centres, district heating, compressor-oil cooling and other single-phase applications.

With dimensions of only 620 x 202 mm, the B224 is said be easy to install, even in tight spaces alongside pumps and pipes. SWEP insists that this makes it ideal to use in coolant CDUs in data centres where it exchanges heat between the heat transfer fluid (PG25) and the facility water system.

It features a port size of 63 mm, with a maximum volume flow of 61.7m³/h. Its maximum number of plates is 300 and its pressure class is 35bar(g) at 20°C, with UL approval for a maximum pressure at 31/31bar(g).

The B327 is the newest addition to SWEP’s range of large heat exchangers. It is said to have a slim profile, superior thermal length, and balanced pressure drop. Its large ports facilitate high capacity and flow rates and with the possibility of both symmetric and asymmetric subtypes. In addition to cooling duties, the SWEP B327 is also recommended to capture excess heat for reuse from data centres or in heating substations and tap water stations up to 1000kW.
