IOR provides coaching guidance
24th May 2025
UK: The Institute of Refrigeration’s latest education guidance note covers the subject of coaching as a way for employers to support engineering and technician development.
Guidance Note 16 provides an understanding of the benefits of coaching, how this differs from mentoring and includes a useful list of organisations who can offer help with setting up coaching schemes or offer coaching.
Coaching can be used to enhance technical and professional effectiveness by supporting critical thinking skills, communications, adaptability and decision-making leading to improved confidence working in increasingly complex environments.
“The IOR education committee has over the past few years produced a series of really useful tools to support the development of everyone working in the sector and improve continued professional development,” explained IOR CEO Miriam Rodway. “They are continuing this work with even more guides being drafted and are planning an open meeting later this year to share this work and get feedback from members on what topics they want IOR to cover next.”
All the IOR’s guidance notes are available free to download from the institute’s website.
