IRI webinars on EN378 revision proposals
9th June 2025
IRELAND: The Institute of Refrigeration Ireland (IRI) is to host a series of lunchtime webinars on the proposed revision to the EN378 standard.
EN 378 is the principal European standard applying to the safety and environmental requirements for refrigeration systems in the EU, in particular for field-installed systems.
A CEN working group has been developing a proposed revision to the current version of the standard which dates from 2016.
The proposed revision is now complete and is about to be issued for public enquiry. During the enquiry process, individuals have the opportunity to obtain a copy of the draft revision and to submit comments for improvement. This will run from July to September, with the revised standard expected to be published in 2026.
The IRI is encouraging the refrigeration industry in Ireland, and in particular installers and contractors, to participate in this enquiry process.
To this end, the IRI is hosting a series of short lunchtime webinars through June, July and August. These will be held every Thursday lunchtime, (from 13.15 to 13.45) starting on Thursday 12 June.
The webinars will be presented by various organisations and by equipment manufacturers, many of who have technical bulletins or other training on compliance with EN 378.
The IRI has asked its corporate partners to offer suitable presentations for the series, and we also invite members of the Institute who have particular expertise with the standard to make a short presentation.
