Alan Kirkham set to retire

UK: Alan Kirkham, commercial director of Beijer Ref UK and Ireland, is set to retire in May after an industry career spanning 50 years.

Kirkham started his working life as an apprentice electrician. When qualified, Alan joined Prestcold Northern as a refrigeration installation engineer. In 1979 he transferred to wholesaler Nationwide Refrigeration Supplies (NRS) as a sales engineer, quickly developing his career through branch and sales management.

A proud moment for Alan was starting his own wholesaling business NRW Ltd in 1997, which quickly became a successful national wholesaling operation. After selling the business to Fridge Spares, Alan joined Beijer Ref UK and Ireland in 2010 as commercial director.

Paying tribute to his colleague and friend, Beijer Ref UK and Ireland MD John Billson said: “I have known Alan for many years and I have been both an employee and employer to him. He has stood firmly by my side assisting and supporting the decisions made to develop the business. I will be forever grateful to him for this.”
