All-in-one heat pump undergoes trials
26th April 2026
UK: A Bristol-based UK startup company has announced trials of a new heat pump that combines a water cylinder with a heat pump in one unit, to sit outside a home.
The recipient of an Innovate UK Fast Start Grant application, the company, Nusku, is established at Future Space, an enterprise hub at the University of the West of England.
The Nusku heat pump is designed to offer an easy, cost-effective replacement of gas boilers, without the need for major internal home rework. A key selling point will be the fact it’s cheaper and quicker to install – taking a few days rather than over a week.
The volume of the compact cylinder is sized to deliver 180 litres of water at 40°C, and operates up to a higher flow temperature of 65°C at design outdoor temperature.

The first Nusku heating system was tested at the University of Salford’s Energy House, a research and testing laboratory which comprises an early 20th century two-bedroom terraced house within an environmental chamber allowing an accurate and rapid assessment of energy efficient retro fit technologies.
Now prototypes are being trialled in homes across Bristol, with more widespread trials due to start in other cities soon before the product is officially launched next year.
