Beijer Ref to unite UK wholesalers

UK: Beijer Ref is to unite its UK and Ireland wholesale operations into two brands – Beijer Ref UK and Beijer Ref Ire.

The decision will see the demise of the Dean & Wood, RW (formerly United Refrigeration), DWG and HRP brands, which have operated the independently since their acquisitions. The Dean & Wood business was acquired in 2004, United Refrigeration (RW) followed in 2011, DWG in 2012 and HRP, the most recent, in 2016.

In a statement, the company said: “There have been group synergies for some time, including centralised logistics, technical, finance and training academies which all offered a united support. The last unification being in 2020 when the external sales teams became one with sector-specific sales specialists focused on selling refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.”

The next planned step is to merge the remainder of the businesses into Beijer Ref UK and Beijer Ref Ire to “further increase efficiencies” and strengthen customer support by streamlining processes.

The unification process has already started and will include some branches merging into larger stock holding and distribution outlets.

“Our existing teams are looking forward to a unified Beijer Ref,” said MD Hayley Cattell. “The consolidation of our successful wholesale operations into Beijer Ref marks the next stage in our ambitious growth plans.”

Sales for Beijer Ref will be headed by current DW sales director Alec Stilling. Warren Root, head of HRP, will become OEM commercial director and Sarah Turner, business director of RW, takes on the responsibility of learning and development director. Róisín Daly will remain as business director for Beijer Ref Ire.
