Beijer Ref UK redefines fridge sales

UK: Beijer Ref UK has created a package of five support services within one hub in a move which the company says redefines the supply of refrigeration equipment to contractors.

Called FridgeHub, the new service offers a range of products covering systems capable of duties ranging from 0.5kW through to over 750kW. This includes systems for CO2 and A2L refrigerants covering standard condensing units through to pack systems that can be matched to a range of heat exchanger options.

Beijer Ref has been developing the service in the background over the last two years and has been testing it out with a few selected customers.

“What we’ve done is create a package of support services to be able to make sure that we can give all the support elements that are needed to sell equipment. We don’t believe that just selling a box off the shelf works anymore,” said innovation and marketing director Howard Noble.

FridgeHub comprises five elements – FridgeDirect, FridgeProjects, FridgeTech, FridgeTraining and Fridge Pro – and will work in conjunction with Beijer Ref wholesalers, Dean & Wood, HRP and RW Refrigeration.

FridgeDirect is an internal team of product specialists who are knowledgeable in the selection and supply of equipment with a capacity of up to 10kW. They can provide equipment solutions for cold rooms, freezer rooms and beer cellars, and offer dedicated support for contractors’ install teams. A response within 30 minutes is promised to quote requests.

FridgeProjects consists of a team of specialist project managers offering full project management for the supply of commercial and heavy commercial systems above 10kW, from initial enquiry through to commissioning and maintenance. Customers are regularly updated on a project’s progress from the initial technical quotation through to delivery scheduling.

FridgeTech provides dedicated application engineers working hand-in-hand with the project managers to convert customer briefs and apply the ideal solution.

As the name suggests, FridgeTraining offers the necessary training for engineers at the recently created Beijer Ref Academy.

Finally, FridgePro is a new partnership scheme specifically for the refrigeration trade. It offers the kind of add-ons traditionally enjoyed in the air conditioning sector, including training, enhanced warranty, branded clothing, vehicle graphics, marketing support and factory contact.

If the name seems familiar, Fridgehub was originally a short-lived online directory and information service for the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector launched by Mark Denton in 2013. Beijer Ref acquired the name in 2016.
