BUS applications up 75% in February

UK: Applications for grants under the UK government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) in February were 75% higher than during the same month last year, new statistics reveal.

The 35,741 applications received to the end of February was the third highest number received in a month since the scheme began in April 2022. It was also a 13% increase on January, according to new data published by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

There were 1,824 grants paid in February 2024, bringing the total number of grants paid on the scheme to 22,307. The majority of the grants (96%) in February were for ASHP installations.

Up until the end of February 2024, a total of 30,571 vouchers were issued. There were 54% more vouchers issued in February 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year; 1,868 in February 2024 compared to 1,211 in February 2023.

The figures show an upturn in interest in the BUS scheme since the government increased the grant from £5,000 to £7,500 in October last year.
