Carrier appoints UK MD as David Dunn joins CDL
24th May 2026
UK: In changes to its management structure, Carrier UK and Ireland has appointed Pastor Casanova as managing director with responsibility for the Carrier, Toshiba and Viessmann brands.
While Carrier has not yet commented on the appointment, it appears to bring together the commercial and residential teams under Pastor Casanova. The commercial MD, Andrew Paddock, left in January to join the Flakt Group as MD of HVAC UK and Ireland, with long-serving Carrier Solutions MD, David Dunn, leaving at the end of April.
Casanova joins Carrier from Siemens where he was MD of Smart Infrastructure Buildings for Great Britain and Ireland. He joined Siemens in 2020 and in his six years with the company held a number of management roles across Europe and the USA.

Meanwhile, David Dunn has joined Gateshead-based, long-term Toshiba distributor Cool Designs Ltd as joint MD with current MD Darrel Birkett.
Dunn spent 23 years with Toshiba Carrier after joining in 2003 as specification sales manager.
The move brings David Dunn back to the company he actually founded in 2002 as an agent for Toshiba. Originally incorporated as Cool Designs and Consultancy Ltd, within 12 months Dunn had sold the company to Darrel Birkett, who shortened the name to the current Cool Designs Ltd (CDL) in 2007. CDL was appointed an official Toshiba distributor in 2004.
“I actually set the company up originally and brought Darrel into it when I was then an agent for Toshiba,” David Dunn told the Cooling Post. “When I was then direct employed I had to sell on as it was a conflict of interest, but I always knew at some point I would go back to distribution as I wanted to be nearer the customer again.”
On his departure, Dunn said: “Carrier (Toshiba and Viessmann) have been brilliant to me and supported me and given me some amazing opportunities. My relationship with Didier Genois [vice president Climate Solutions Central Europe], who I reported into, has been excellent and we are parting positively and in a good way.”
On joining CDL, Dunnsaid: “Darrel and myself have strong plans to push CDL on to the next level.”
