Fire-hit contractor seeks new premises

UK: Commercial refrigeration contractor Refrigeration South West is desperately seeking new premises after its offices and workshop in Wadebridge, Cornwall, were destroyed by fire.

Fire appliances from across the county were called to the fire on Wednesday evening at the Trenant Industrial Estate in Wadebridge. Three businesses in the 1800m² unit were affected, including Refrigeration South West. No one was injured in the incident.

Refrigeration South West has been established in Wadebridge for over 30 years, providing 24-hour telephone support to an impressive list of clients in the West Country, South Wales and beyond.

Director Steve Pickin told Cornwall Live that the company’s depot, workshop and offices had been completely destroyed.

“We haven’t got anywhere to work now. I’ve just been down to see our insurance company, a local firm in Wadebridge too, and we’re now looking to find some other premises somewhere,” he said.

Fortunately, none of the company’s vehicles were lost and the phone lines have now been redirected.

The fire service is investigating the cause of the fire.
