IoR updates leak detection guidance

UK: The IOR has updated its guidance note on fixed leak detection, which is now available for download.

Fixed Refrigerant Detection Systems for HFCs, HFC/HFO blends, HFOs and HCFCs (GN20) is aimed at those involved in the specification, design and installation and operation of multi point fixed refrigerant detection systems to monitor those gases.

Many of the principles and associated benefits of fixed leak detection systems also relate to hydrocarbon and CO2 refrigerants and will be considered in separate documents.

The areas covered in GN20 are: What is fixed refrigerant detection; why install a fixed refrigerant detection system?; effective refrigerant leak detection system; available technologies; response procedures; maintenance and calibration.

The guidance note, available free to members and is £6.00 to non-members, can be downloaded here.

The Service Engineers Section of the IOR will also be holding a webinar covering the latest developments in refrigerant leakage checking on May 8.
