UK: John Emm has been named as the winner of the first Hampshire Refrigeration Society’s (HRS) World Refrigeration Award.

Launched to celebrate the inaugural World Refrigeration Day, the HRS award was devised to honour those who have furthered the advancement and recognition of the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry.

The award was presented to John Emm by Steve Gill, founder of World Refrigeration Day, and current Institute of Refrigeration president Kevin Glass at the HRS’s recent Golf Day Dinner.

Prior to making the award, Steve Gill said of John Emm: “After 55 years in the industry John is still working and shows no sign of retiring. In addition to his career he has also been very active in the Institute of Refrigeration where he was chairman of the membership committee and also sat on executive council.

“In 2009 John suffered a stroke paralyzing the left-hand side of his body. With grit and determination and a brilliant rehabilitation team he fought his way back and is still going strong.”
