Johnson Controls buys contractor Cool Solution

UK: Johnson Controls has acquired UK contractor Cool Solution, a prominent service provider of air conditioning and refrigeration with offices in Cardiff and Tewksbury.

Established in 2003, Cool Solution offers design, install and maintain services for all types of comfort systems, focused mainly on working within commercial buildings and industrial premises, as well as specialist applications such as refrigeration and clean rooms.

The company is a Daikin D1+ and the Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Quality Partner.

Johnson Controls says that it sees the acquisition filling a geographic service gap in Wales and the south west and will enhance its HVAC offering across multiple customer segments. It will also benefit from Cool Solution’s design and project management capabilities.

It also sees Cool Solution’s strength in supplying packaged air conditioning solutions to the office building retrofit market – including strong relationships with interior design and fit-out firms – as a  means for Johnson Controls to diversify its portfolio of HVAC solutions.

In a statement, Johnson Controls says that in order to “ensure a seamless transition and continuity of the customer experience”, there will be no immediate changes to day-to-day operations of the business until both leadership teams formulate their medium and long-term plan.

All 25 members of staff will continue working at the company in the same office locations, with directors Matt Williams and Steve Shilcock remaining at the helm to oversee the Cool Solution brand. Fellow director Tony Williams will stay on with the business as a consultant..

“I am confident the integration of Cool Solution and Johnson Controls will be a benefit not only to customers, but to our teams too,” said Matt Williams.

Commenting on the Cool Solution business, Johnson Controls UK&I HVAC solutions general manager Gail Hunter said: “The team has created a strong business across Wales and the south west, and they will be an invaluable asset in helping to serve our nationwide customer base.”
