Medical fridge firm expands to meet demand

UK: Medical refrigeration specialists CoolMed has moved its Manchester facility to allow for further expansion amid growing demand.

The move will see CoolMed remain in Manchester but relocate to a larger facility in Trafford Park.

The new Trafford Park location will provide CoolMed with much more space and three times more warehouse capacity to accommodate its growing stock levels.

“CoolMed only started trading in 2017, so we’re thrilled to be able to scale-up so quickly,” commented a delighted Stephen Johnson, CoolMed’s MD. “The demand for medical refrigeration has never been higher, so we needed to relocate our headquarters to allow us to keep up with that demand. Our new headquarters in Trafford Park will allow us to accommodate the large orders that we’re seeing and expand our product range even further.”

Originally founded in the early 2000s, the CoolMed brand was launched in 2017 to bring high quality, refrigeration products to the medical industry at cost-effective prices.

In the past three months alone, CoolMed has supplied over 1900 medical refrigerators to businesses throughout the UK and seen turnover reach £1.3m. The company is currently on track to achieve £2.5m turnover in 2021.

Due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic, medical-grade refrigerators have been more in demand than ever, and the subsequent vaccine roll-out recently led to one of CoolMed’s biggest contract wins to date. CoolMed is now Lloyds Pharmacy and Lloyds Pharmacy Clinical Homecare’s exclusive supplier of medical-grade refrigerators.
