UK: Fläkt Woods has appointed Ian Morehouse as md of Fläkt Woods Ltd and vice president of its UK fan business.

In his new role, Ian’s remit will cover manufacturing of products in the UK, with responsibility for improving operational excellence in all aspects of the manufacturing process, including sourcing, productivity, supply chain, engineering and new product development. In addition, he will maintain an emphasis on the shop floor’s ‘continuous development’ programme, optimising work flow and assembly to ensure production is as efficient as possible for the company’s customers.

Commenting on his new position, Ian Morehouse said he was impressed with the facilities at the Colchester site but saw plenty of opportunities to further enhance its operations and improve overall efficiencies on the shop floor. “Reducing energy levels is also a key target, which is why we’re already investing in a highly efficient lighting system, making a significant difference to our utility costs,” he said.

“However, the investment will not only be in equipment; we will also continue to develop our apprentice scheme, which will help ensure the skills developed over decades are passed onto the next generation of engineers.”

Ian has over 15 years of experience in a variety of industries, including aerospace, electronics, metrology and medical. His roles have ranged from engineering and operations, to business leadership and continuous improvement.

Ian’s previous position was 0perations director at Solartron Metrology, and prior to that he worked for Eaton Aerospace and Fluke Europe (Danaher Corporation) in both Europe and the UK.
