Rising Star man a finalist in ex-forces award

UK: Marc Gault, regional contracts manager at Star Refrigeration, has been named as a finalist in the Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards.
Gault, who works at Star’s Bellshill branch, is named in the Rising Star of the Year category in the awards which celebrate the successes of military veterans who have gone on to exceed in business.
“The army has equipped me with the skills, knowledge and strength of character to excel in civilian life, qualities which I am grateful were recognised by the senior team at Star Refrigeration, who have invested their time and trust in me and helped me progress within the business at an accelerated rate,” Gault explained.
He joined Star in 2016 on the company’s fast-track engineers’ training programme, which is designed to prepare engineers from other sectors for a career within industrial refrigeration. While engineers on the programme typically take up to 18 months to reach the first professional grade and complete their formal training, Marc Gault completed the programme in just 11 months.
His achievements over the past 18 months have included installing a CO2 refrigeration system at BrewDog’s Eurocentral beer warehouse in Scotland and spending two months in Norway working at a world-leading renewable energy heat pump which provides district heating to the entire city of Drammen.
These achievements, along with his work ethic and flexible attitude, led him to be offered the role of regional contracts manager after just 12 months as an industrial refrigeration engineer.
Andy Butler, training facilitator at Star Refrigeration, said: “Every task Marc has approached has been with enthusiasm and humour no matter how adverse or arduous the conditions – this is almost certainly a result of the years that Marc has spent in the forces.”
The awards will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on December 3.
