Sam Jones takes golden experience to Breakfast TV
4th October 2026
UK: Fresh from his success at WorldSkills, gold medal winner Sam Jones had the opportunity to promote careers in refrigeration and air conditioning with an appearance on BBC Breakfast television.
Sam joined fellow competitor Neve Dunn, a bronze-medalist in beauty therapy, and Emma Roberts of WorldSkills UK on the Breakfast TV sofa on Saturday morning, explaining the competition to presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.
He had the opportunity to describe the judging process and his experiences in Shanghai where the finals were held.

Asked to explain the value of the competition to the UK, Emma Roberts said: “What it helps us do as WorldSkills UK is bring all of that international best practice from over 70 countries competing at the highest level back to the UK skills system. We run competitions at a national level as well to help young people test their technical skills, build employability skills and help get ready for work, and that’s obviously really important.”
Roberts also explained that, in addition to refrigeration and air conditioning, WorldSkills UK runs 40 different skills on a national level, and provides the opportunity to be part of the next team, which is going to be competing in Japan in two years’ time.
Six UK refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump engineers have already battled their way through to the final of this year’s RACHP WorldSkills UK competition which is being held in Wales in November.
