Steve Gill is IoR president-elect

Steve-GillUK: Steve Gill has won the vote to be the next president of the Institute of Refrigeration.

The online vote decided by members, a straight choice between Steve Gill and Bob Arthur, concluded today at midday.

A statement from current president Graeme Maidment on the IoR website says: “The counting of votes for the post of President Elect has now been concluded by the independent body, Electoral Reform Services, and they have advised that the winner of the election is Steve Gill FInstR.

“On behalf of all of the members I would like to thank both candidates for their generosity in offering their time and expertise in serving the Institute, and their willingness to stand in this election.”

He concludes by welcoming Steve back onto IoR Council and welcomes working with him, as president-elect, in a variety of IoR activities over the next 12 months.

Steve, currently on his way to the USA, told the Cooling Post: “I am delighted, honoured, and humbled all at the same time. It was something that I never imagined would be possible when I started my career in this industry. I would like to thank all the members that voted and to the IoR council for nominating me and giving me this opportunity. I would especially like to thank Bob Arthur for also standing. I have known Bob for many years and I am looking forward to continuing working with him on IoR matters. I am looking forward to the role and to continuing the work of this great institute.”

Steve will take over from Graeme Maidment as president in 2016.
