UK extends Kigali ratification to Gibraltar

UK: The UK government is reported to have written to the UN extending ratification of the Kigali Amendment to Gibraltar.
As a British overseas territory, Gibraltar, a headland on Spain’s south coast, is also part of the EU ODS and F-gas quota and reporting systems until the UK leaves the EU.
The UN has confirmed that it received notification from the UK government on October 18, stating that it “hereby extends the application of the United Kingdom’s ratification of the Kigali Amendment to Gibraltar, for whose international relations the United Kingdom is responsible”.
When the UK ratified the Kigali Amendment to phase down HFCs in November 2017, it was the 14 country to do so and the first of the EU countries.
Earlier this year, the Government of Gibraltar informed the UK’s Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) that they intended to transfer the ODS and F-gas regulations into domestic law separately.
