Up to 245 jobs to go at Alan Nuttall

UK: More than 200 jobs are set to go at shop display company Alan Nuttall as a result of the downturn in the high street.

The company which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016 is reported to have told staff that as many as 245 jobs were at risk. The company currently employs around 100 people at its hot food counter factory in Hinckley and around 400 at its main base in Dudley.

The company’s last reported accounts for the year end 2016 showed a loss of around £1m on a turnover of £59m.

Managing director Nino Calandra is said to have informed staff on Friday that the “drastic” decision was needed to safeguard the future of the business.
