ASERCOM advises on Ecodesign regs

BELGIUM: ASERCOM has published guidance on the product information requirements of motors and variable speed drives integrated in refrigeration systems under the Ecodesign regulation.

Ecodesign regulation (EU) 2019/1781 for electric motors and variable speed drives (VSD) came into force on July 1 and will be applied gradually over the next two years.

While, in principle, integrated motors and drives whose energy performance cannot be tested independently of the product in which they are integrated are exempt from the minimum energy efficiency requirements, special product information obligations will apply.

These are in particular stators – rotors integrated in hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors, drives in hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors and tailored drives that are used outside the refrigerant compressor but cannot be controlled on their own.

The statement by ASERCOM , the association of European manufacturers of refrigeration and air conditioning components, describes in detail how manufacturers can comply with these obligations.

The statement can be found here.
