Beijer Ref expands Oceania footprint

SWEDEN: Beijer Ref has expanded its footprint in Oceania with the purchase of Australian company Industrial Refrigeration Components (IRC) and an expansion of its distribution agreement with Lu-Ve.

Industrial Refrigeration Components (IRC), based in Tullamarine, Melbourne, was established in 2001, as a supplier of spare parts and components throughout the Pacific region.

In a further move, the Swedish wholesaler has extended its existing partnership in Australia and New Zealand with heat exchanger product manufacturer Lu-Ve to include ammonia units via SCM Ref Australia, Beijer Ref Australia’s manufacturing operation.

Beijer Ref says the investment will strengthen its ability to meet the overall need that exist in the local industrial market – with a complete set of industrial products and components.

“Our customers can now conveniently take part in Beijer Ref’s wide range of products, both when it comes to commercial, industrial as well as natural refrigerant solutions, while being supported by our Australian branch network,” commented Beijer Ref CEO Per Bertland.

IRC has an annual turnover of approximately SEK20m ( AUS$3m, US$2.3m) with two employees. It will be integrated into Beijer Ref Australia’s current organisation.

Company founder Barry Brown, who has been in the industry since 1969, commented: “It is good for me to know that the company I have established will continue and flourish under a such a well respected name as Beijer.”
