Beijer Ref moves into transport refrigeration

SWEDEN/SOUTH AFRICA: Beijer Ref is to move into the transport refrigeration sector with the acquisition of Transport Cooling SA, an operating unit of GEA Africa, and Thermo King distributor.

Transport Cooling SA has had an exclusive distribution agreement with transport refrigeration company Thermo King since 1964. It operates seven branches in South Africa and one branch in Namibia. It has annual sales of approximately SEK150m (€13.7m) and around 90 employees.

Pending clearance from the South African competition authority, Beijer Ref will integrate Transport Cooling SA as a business unit of Beijer Ref Africa but will continue to operate under its own brand.
