Bristol Compressors completes switch to Thailand

THAILAND: Kulthorn Kirby has officially commenced production of Bristol Compressors in Thailand following its acquisition of the US manufacturer in 2018 and subsequent transfer of operations to Bangkok.

Kulthorn Kirby acquired the intellectual property, technology and processes of Virginia-based Bristol Compressors International in November 2018. The acquisition included Bristol’s equipment, brand name, product line, technologies and other assets. In particular were the rights to manufacture Bristol-branded compressors from 1.5hp to 25hp for air conditioning and heat pump applications of 9,000 to 287,400Btu/hr and commercial refrigeration applications of 5,200 to 40,100Btu/hr.

The relocation project was a joint effort between teams from Kulthorn and Bristol.

Kulthorn Kirby says it is committed to fully support Bristol’s worldwide customers throughout the transition. This will include not only ramping up production and reintroducing the new Bristol brand to the market, but also re-establishing and reinforcing the existing supply chain.

Kulthorn Kirby president Khun Sutee Simakulthorn and his team were in Bristol, Virginia, to supervise the relocation of production facilities

Established in 1975, Bristol Compressors was an early developer of scroll compressors. It fell into financial trouble in 2018, predominantly blamed on the failure of its business in the Middle East.
