Carel acquires Italian company Enginia

ITALY: Carel Industries, through its subsidiary Recuperator SpA, has acquired Enginia Srl, an Italian manufacturer of dampers and other plastic and metal components for air handling units.

Established in 1997, Enginia operates from a 4,700m2 factory and headquarters in Trezzo sull’Adda, near Milan. Sales in 2020 were €12.3m, of which more than 80% come from outside Italy, and EBITDA was €1.5m.

As with Recuperator, the Italian company it acquired in 2018, Carel sees the acquisition of Enginia consolidating its role as a supplier of complete solutions to manufacturers of air handling units.

Commenting on the purchase, Carel Group CEO Francesco Nalini commented: “The acquisition of Enginia is another important step in our strategy of development by external lines and adds another production platform to the thirteen already existing ones, making Carel’s offer even more complete. Moreover, it represents an opportunity of growth in an expanding market as the one of the air handling units, joining Recuperator SpA, which is active in the same segment through the sale of heat exchangers/recovery units.”
