Carrier acquires transport partner Addvolt
3rd May 2025
USA: Carrier has acquired long-term strategic partner Addvolt SA, a Portuguese transport electrification technology company.
Headquartered in Porto, Addvolt offers patented, non-invasive, low-maintenance electric systems for use with refrigerated vans, trucks, trailers and containers.
The two companies first announced a partnership in 2021 with AddVolt’s power system being employed on Carrier Transicold’s Vector eCool unit. Addvolt subsequently became the first investment by Carrier Ventures, the company’s global venture capital arm founded in 2022.
AddVolt is a plug-in electric system for transportation markets. The AddVolt plug-in electric system attached to the truck is managed by remote control from the driver’s cabin. Access to the My AddVolt digital platform allows users to monitor and manage the savings and carbon footprint of the vehicle using a laptop, a tablet, or smartphone.
“By combining Addvolt’s deep expertise in electric systems and power management with Carrier’s industry-leading solutions, we are well-positioned to drive innovation beyond refrigerated transportation,” said Edward Dryden, president of Carrier Climate Solutions Transportation.
“This strategic partnership creates opportunity for new and emerging applications, while also continuing to build on the success we’ve already achieved together.”
