Chinese manufacturer signs Carrier motor deal
USA: Carrier has signed a strategic long-term agreement with Chinese motor manufacturer Broad-Ocean Motor, making it the latest company to join Carrier’s Alliance Supplier programme.
Founded in 2000 and based in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, Broad-Ocean Motor will supply Carrier-branded OEM and replacement motors across Carrier’s HVAC and refrigeration products in North America and Asia.
Welcoming the new deal, Ed Dunn, Carrier’s supply chain vice president, said: “We have worked together for more than a decade and during this time Broad-Ocean Motor has expanded its manufacturing capacity to support Carrier’s HVAC and Refrigeration portfolios as we launch new products to meet changing efficiency and regulation requirements. This long- term agreement will further strengthen and expand our existing strategic relationship.”
Established last year, the Carrier Alliance programme seeks to optimise Carrier’s supply chain and contribute to planned cost savings of $600m over the next three years. Carrier has previously stated that the programme “will both strengthen and lengthen strategic relationships with suppliers and provide certainty, security and growth opportunities for Carrier and its key suppliers”.
