EUROPE: Copeland and Daikin are to collaborate in providing a solutions package of inverter swing rotary compressors, power electronics and controls to European heat pump OEMs, distributors and wholesalers.

The move is an expansion of the joint venture formed last year between the US manufacturer Copeland and Japanese manufacturer Daikin to bring Daikin’s inverter swing rotary compressor technology to the US.

According to the companies, the partnership’s comprehensive solutions package is designed specifically for European residential heat pumps. They maintain that the duo’s deep application expertise and strong customer support will accelerate time to market for OEM adoption and enable a faster energy transition across the continent.

The collaboration combine’s Copeland’s solutions, expertise, established sales channels and customer support network with Daikin’s swing rotary compressor technology.

“This co-operation expands and strengthens Copeland’s compression portfolio, enabling us to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that meet Europe’s growing demand for efficient home heating,” said Copeland CEO Ross B Shuster. “In addition to industry-leading compression technology, we will be combining our advanced power electronics, controls and dedicated customer support to help OEMs accelerate product development and drive the energy transition at scale.”

“This partnership positions Daikin to play a central role in the engineering and production of inverter swing rotary compressors,”  added Daikin’s executive associate officer Jiro Tomita.

After completing post-signing preparations, the joint venture is expected to be operational starting in 2026, serving the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and neighbouring territories.
