Daikin Applied acquires building systems firm

USA: Daikin Applied Americas has acquired a majority interest in CM3 Building Solutions, a Philadelphia-based building automation, HVAC support, energy services, security and fire protection company.

Based in Fort Washington and operating throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey, CM3 will continue to operate under its current name and leadership. Operating as a corporation for nearly 20 years, the company has more than 50 years of experience in its region. CM3 was an early innovator in building automation and systems integration, and employs a team of 150 building solutions experts. CM3 is a certified Schneider Electric Master EcoXpert.

Daikin sees the new relationship expanding its ability to serve customers across the entire lifecycle of their building systems and operation.

“With CM3’s solutions expertise, Daikin Applied will network its HVAC technologies with other building systems, such as security, life safety, retro-commissioning and energy services,” said Nick Brazis, Daikin Applied’s vice president of corporate development.

“Today, when buildings use 75% of the country’s power and 40% of its energy, we need to help customers manage their entire environment to achieve the next level of efficiency and sustainability,” said executive vice president Jeff Drees. “We can maximize HVAC performance when we can fully assess and support the building envelope. Our relationship with CM3 opens new opportunities to improve our customers’ effectiveness.”
