Daikin CO2 VRV unveiled at ISH

©Cooling Post

GERMANY: Daikin’s CO2 VRV will be available from next month as a single 10hp unit with the choice of round flow cassette and ceiling concealed indoor units.

The highly-anticipated system was amongst a number of new products officially unveiled this week at ISH in Frankfurt.

The 10hp RXYN-B outdoor unit provides a cooling capacity of 28kW and a heating capacity of 31.5kW. It will support a maximum of eight indoor units. SEERs are quoted at 4.8 with an SCOP of 3.5.

“Adding CO2 to Daikin’s broad portfolio of VRV solutions, this innovation diversifies the choices on the market and lays the foundation for further developments,” said Daikin Europe’s VRV product manager George Dimou. “It is tailored for targeted decarbonisation initiatives such as supermarkets and retail establishments, focusing on heating and cooling systems that necessitate the use of natural refrigerants.”

The new indoor units, both optimised for use with CO2, are the FXFN-B 360º air discharge round-flow cassette and FXSN-B ceiling concealed unit with medium medium external static pressure.

Offered with optional automatic filter cleaning panel and two optional intelligent sensors, the cassette is available with designer panels in white (RAL9010) and black (RAL9005) and standard panels in white (RAL9010) with grey louvres, or full white.

Featuring bigger flaps and a special swing pattern to improve equal air distribution, it also features individual flap control to provide flexibility of room layout.

It is also said to offer the lowest installation height on the market – 214mm for class 20-63.

The cassette includes a UV streamer kit and 675mm-lift drain pump as standard. Optional fresh air intake  is also available.

The ceiling concealed unit is claimed to be the slimmest yet most powerful medium static pressure unit on the market.

Only 245mm (300mm built-in height), it is said to operate with sound pressure levels down to 25dBA.

Its medium external static pressure of up to 150Pa enables the use of flexible ducts of varying lengths. The ESP can be altered via the wired remote control.

Fresh air intake is integrated in the same system thus reducing installation cost as no additional ventilation device is required

The standard built-in drain pump offers 625mm lift.

“We are committed to developing VRV systems that offer the flexibility of choice for any type of commercial building, keeping a clear focus on energy efficiency, GWP, legislation and building trends. This CO2 VRV innovation is a next step towards offering solutions with a lower climate impact over  their entire lifetime,” said George Dimou.
