Daikin opens second Australia factory
10th December 2025
JAPAN: Daikin Australia has opened a new $28.6m manufacturing facility in Chipping Norton, New South Wales.
This second factory, situated on 7,500m2 of Daikin’s head office site in the Sydney suburb, expands Daikin’s capability to produce customised air handling units and rooftop packaged air conditioners. It will also provide the potential to expand ducted indoor production to cater to future demand increases.
The investment included $2.6m from the NSW Government to support Daikin’s manufacturing and R&D expansion.
“This new factory strengthens our ability to meet the needs of Australian customers with products that are designed, engineered and built here, while advancing our goal of carbon-neutral manufacturing by 2030,” said Daikin Australia MD Hideaki Furihata.
Daikin was first established in Australia in 1969 as Clark Daikin. It started local production in 1982.
Construction of Factory 2 began in early 2024 and concluded in August of this year.
.The factory incorporates autonomous mobile robots, expanded solar photovoltaic generation and digitalised sale-to-manufacture processing to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Beyond the new factory, Daikin has brought printed circuit board manufacturing onshore.
All ducted systems, rooftop packaged units and air handling units produced in Australia now carry the Australian Made mark. Designed for local conditions, these products use Australian-sourced parts and assembly.
