EC seeks feedback on F-gas portal amendments
14th June 2024EUROPE: The European Commission is now seeking feedback on the amendments to the rules on registration for the F-gas portal as laid down in the new F-gas regulation.
The additional and amended rules in the new F-gas regulation 2024/573, which entered into force on March 11, make it necessary to repeal the current Implementing regulation to ensure the portal’s correct functioning.
This draft act is now open for feedback until 11 July (midnight CET).
The F-gas Portal is the European Commission’s centralised online platform to implement the HFC quota phase-down, manage the requirements of imports and exports, and facilitate the reporting obligations under the new F-gas Regulation.
The registry contains information such as organisation details, business specifications, HFC quotas, and authorisations to use quotas to import equipment and products containing HFCs. Transactions such as transferring and authorising quotas must take place within the F-gas Portal. From 2025, the portal will also show production rights data and quota allocation payment information.
