Electric truck with solar panels

SWITZERLAND: Zurich-based haulier Rhyner Logistik has purchased a fully electric Renault truck fitted with solar panels to provide power to the refrigeration unit.

The fully-electric Renault Trucks 26 tonne D Wide ZE has joined the 100-strong Rhyner Logistik fleet and will supply the Denner discount supermarkets in Zurich and its suburbs. Denner is Switzerland’s third largest supermarket chain.

Convinced that electric mobility is the most effective way to achieve carbon neutrality, Rhyner Logistik has also acquired a rapid charging station. This enables the truck to be charged at the depot during loading operations.

Because the truck is driven in an urban environment that requires frequent braking, energy recovery also leads to savings of 20 to 30%, according to the company.
