Epta sells Misa cold room business

ITALY: Commercial refrigeration equipment manufacturer Epta has sold its Misa cold room business to Purever Industries, the global insulation group with headquarters in Madrid.

Under the terms of the agreement, Epta will continue to purchase and supply Misa brand cold rooms.

Established in 1969 with headquarters and factory in Pomezia, near Rome, Misa was acquired by the Epta Group in 2011. It joins Purever’s other cold room and insulation businesses Coldkit, Dagard and Taver.

Purever Industries operates 11 factories in six countries and has over 1,100 employees.

Commenting on the acquisition, Purever Industries’ founder and CEO, Luis Coelho Borges added: “It also reinforces our presence in Southern European countries, particularly in Italy where we also have started Dagard Italia, in the end of 2023.”

The deal is part of Epta’s strategic intention to focus its investments and development on the group’s core natural refrigeration systems business. It follows the joint venture deal with Viessmann Refrigeration Solutions and the purchase of Heifo’s refrigeration business last year.

“The sale of such a specialised business is a physiological step in order to continue Epta’s path of consolidating its leadership in its core business and will allow the company to concentrate its investments in complete refrigeration systems and services, bringing the Group one step closer to its goal of becoming the global leader in commercial refrigeration, in the spirit of sustainable innovation,” commented Epta president and CEO Marco Nocivelli.
