Eurovent guidance on cPCR rules
17th March 2026
BELGIUM: Eurovent has published a new Recommendation providing guidance on complementary product category rules (cPCR) for heat pump and air conditioning equipment.
The document aims to support the development of consistent EPDs and advance harmonised LCA practices.
It outlines methodological rules complementary to existing standards such as EN 15804 and EN 50693 for preparing EPDs for heat pump and air conditioning equipment. It is intended to serve as a reference for manufacturers, consultants, and environmental experts until a harmonised European cPCR standard is developed.
The Recommendation aims to improve transparency and comparability of environmental data within the HVAC industry. Harmonised approaches to life-cycle assessment and EPDs are increasingly important as sustainability requirements expand under European regulatory frameworks and building policies.
“The publication provides guidance on key aspects required for reliable environmental reporting, including product description and scope, functional and declared units,” commented Eurovent deputy secretary general, Stijn Renneboog. “This is part of Eurovent’s broader programme to harmonise environmental product declarations across multiple HVAC product categories and support the industry’s transition toward more transparent and standardised sustainability reporting.”
The document can be downloaded free of charge on the Eurovent website.
